Reinvention

Now that I'm not at the studio anymore (yeah, that's right, I'm not at Makers Mess anymore) I've had to reinvent myself a bit. It was a bittersweet decision as opening a mess-friendly art studio for kids and adults has been a dream of mine for years. I jumped from that to a ridiculous surgery on my pinky (cut a nerve, tendon and ligament while trying to get out an avocado pit- I told you it was ridiculous!). Next came full-time-mom mode while I kept my 4 and 9 year old with me all summer. Going from crazy busy-studio weeks to BEING AT HOME ALL THE TIME was, well, let's just say it was quite the shift.

This past summer was one of transition and reinvention to say the least. I wasn't the best version of myself these last few weeks and I'm finally coming out of it, shaking the dust off and feeling colorful again. I'm very lucky to have good friends, my husband and my church to listen to all my woes and pull me through the mud. I know, I know- #firstworldproblems.

While trying to figure out what's next for me in the creative world I stumbled on something that makes me very happy- besides being a maker myself, I love meeting artists and spreading their work and message. I love all areas of design, collaboration, marketing and photography- so it felt very natural reaching out to feature some of the talented people I've met along my path.

I'll be doing studio tours with local artists in the next few weeks and featuring them here. I'm also launching a new company with my talented husband so stay tuned!

xx
